Online Theory Courses

You can go on an Introductory Start Yachting / Start Sailing / Basic Skills weekend course, Intermediate Competent Crew, Day Skipper or Advanced Coastal Skipper Practical Training courses.

We use the sheltered waters of the Firth of Clyde on Scotlands West Coast and offer personal tuition held when you want (generally incorporating weekends), keeping classes small provides best learning outcomes and for us high quality feedback from all  clients. We look after and cater for individuals not large groups, no concern is too small and we try to cater for your needs as far as possible.

Theory courses support the practical by giving a range of understanding about navigation and safety afloat which is essential for anyone skippering or crewing a small boat at sea (Sail or Power). They form a solid foundation on which to build your theory knowledge so that your time afloat can be spent safely. Available either online or if you prefer may visit us at Largs Yacht Haven.

We also offer short one day courses too which include Diesel Engine, Radar and Marine VHF Radio training and examination in a classroom environment.

On Line Theory courses support the  Cruising Scheme at all levels supplied by Navathome, a RYA Recognised Training Centre specialising in online training. Courses include: Essential Navigation and Safety, Day Skipper, Coastal and Yacht Master, Professional Practices & Responsibilities for commercial activity; CEVNI endorsement on International Certificate of Competence for Inland European Waterway navigation.
