Yacht Training, Firth of Clyde and Scotland's West Coast

 

Our Yacht Training can take you on an Introductory, Intermediate or Advanced Yacht Cruising Training or One Day Training courses onto the River Clyde which is a rewarding sail training experience. Courses include VHF, Diesel and Radar Short Courses. We start courses from Marinas on the Clyde or the West Coast.

 

Clyde Yacht Training offers skippered charter, bareboat charter and own boat training; we use the sheltered waters of the Firth of Clyde on Scotlands West Coast, with personal tuition, held when you want (generally incorporating weekends) and generally from where you want. The West Coast is good for intermediate or advanced cruising courses if you would like to try different crusing grounds.

 

Our Principal, responsible for all training and the standards on our courses, has many years of Training, Skippered Charter and in owning and charter of yachts for over twenty two years. He has sailed all over the UK, Eire, Isle of Mann and the Channel Islands. We will do our best to look after you and hope you will excel on our courses. We have appointed a Chief  Instructor, himself a Yachtmaster Instructor Ocean too, has thirty plus years yacht sailing experience and several long distance ocean passages and yacht deliveries under his belt. To complement both our Principal and Chief Instructor we also have our own Cruising Instructor on the team and she looks after some of our Day Skipper and Competent Crew Courses based either on the Clyde or West Coast.     

 

Clyde Yacht Training find keeping classes small provides best learning outcomes and for us high quality feedback from all our past clients. We look after and cater for individuals not large groups, no concern is too small and we try to cater for your needs as far as possible.    

 

1st Clyde Yacht Training provides for all Sail Training needs using a perfect environment combined with excellent recreational facilities from Clyde Marinas or the the West Coast by arrangement. This keeps a flexible approach to suit you. 

 

1st Clyde Yacht Training is an Training Centre responsible for deiivery of theory and we offer the complete range of sail training courses designed to meet all your sailing needs. Online learning can be provided, from introductory to advanced theory training for the Coastal Skipper and Yachtmaster Offshore delivered by Navathome, a RYA Recognised Training Centre specialising in online training.

 

Don't forget your one day Marine Short Range (Very High Frequency) VHF Radio Operator's Course or your Diesel Engine Management or Radar One Day Classroom Theory Courses.

 

We specialise in arranging sail training courses flexibly, on demand to suit your party’s requirements and to maximise your time afloat whilst minimising demands on your precious holiday time using weekends wherever possible in conjunction with other sail trining centres.

 

We offer classroom theory courses year long and are available to suppport sail training starting from early in March which offers best value too. Remote on line learning can be offered throughout the entire year and includes basic, intermediate and advanced theory supported by our Principal.

 

The marinas we use allow sheltered access from Scotlands finest marina onto the Firth of Clyde or West Coast.

 

Yacht training courses give the right balance of individual teaching and coaching with ability. All students get maximum benefit, whilst having an enjoyable sail training course,.

As a bonus Introductory and Intermediate courses can be run over 5 days either during one weekend (Wednesday morning – Sunday afternoon) or split using two or three weekends to cover your chosen sailing course. 

 

A popular formula favoured in Scotland is the two & three day weekend courses which can meet on a Friday and then again on the following Thursday night or vice versa and starting in the morning.

 

Classroom theory courses are scheduled to suit your availability and adapted for a range of abilities including Essential Navigation & Safety, Day Skipper and the Coastal & Yachtmaster theory courses too.
